Trauma-Informed Care in OT Practice
Course Level: Basic: Introductory Level 
Course Speakers: Kristin Domville DrOT MOTR/L and Scout Hutchinson OTDS

Kristin Domville- Dr. Kristin Domville has been an occupational therapist for eighteen years practicing in adult rehabilitation, neurorehabilitation, orthopedics, outpatient hands, mental health, and home health. Dr. Domville is the Doctoral Capstone Coordinator at the University of St. Augustine Miami campus. Scout Hutchinson- Scout Hutchinson is an OTD student currently completing her OTD capstone project and experience at the University of St. Augustine Miami campus. Ms. Hutchinson's area of interest is Trauma Informed Care. Ms. Hutchinson's passion is to educate OT's across all areas of practice on how to incorporate Trauma Informed Care into practice.  Course abstract: This course will provide an overview of Trauma Informed Care within all areas of OT practice. During this course we will discuss strategies on how occupational therapy practitioners can incorporate Trauma Informed Care within OT services. Guidelines will be provided that focus on the patient-therapist relationship during the use of Trauma Informed Care. This course emphasizes the basic use of Trauma Informed Care as an approach to support clients' health and well-being, resulting in improved occupational engagement.  Course Objectives: 1. Increase knowledge on the use of Trauma Informed Care within all areas of OT practice 2. Develop strategies for building a patient-therapist relationship by using Trauma Informed Care3. Discuss how to use Trauma Informed Care to improve occupational engagement
