We are very pleased to announce our KEYNOTE SPEAKER for FOTA23

Dr. Douglene Jackson is an occupational therapist with over 20 years of experience in the rehabilitation field, primarily with individuals with and without disabilities across the lifespan in schools, hospitals, clinics, and community-based settings. She holds a PhD in Special Education in Early Childhood, a Masters in Occupational Therapy, Bachelors in Rehabilitation Services with a concentration in counseling, Diploma in Massage Therapy, and various professional certifications, including assistive technology, telehealth, yoga, qigong, and sensory integration. Dr. Jackson received the American Occupational Therapy Association 2022 Award of Merit and simultaneously recognized to the Roster of Fellows. She also received the Florida Occupational Therapy Association Louise Samson Leadership Award in 2022.

Dr. Jackson is Founder and CEO of GIFTS Institute, where she improves life for individuals and organizations internationally through consultation, training, individualized therapy, and innovative services and products. She is an independent researcher in the area of health and education equity, and also an assessment consultant with WPS. Dr. Jackson is a speaker, author, and leader, holding elected and appointed positions on boards of professional associations and community organizations, previously serving on the AOTA Commission on Education as a Clinical Fieldwork Educator. She currently serves as the AOTA Alternate Delegate to the World Federation of Occupational Therapists and Secretary of the American Occupational Therapy Foundation. Douglene is a past-President of FOTA and responsible for developing FOTA Connect , which continues to thrive.
